Make Money At Home Blog: Learn To Make Money At Home Online Guide

Looking around online for a dependable source of information and advice on how to make money online is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. There’s a lot of stuff out there that basically falls into the same category…SALES PITCHES!

Yep, you visit the site and all they tell you about making money online is “Buy This Product…and you’ll make money”

That’s of no use to people who are just starting out and need a guiding hand. They don’t need or want to put their hand in their pockets before they get that guiding hand…a guiding hand which most times gets them to buy more and more unnecessary stuff along the way.

With the Make Money At Home Online Guide blog I hope to show you the simple steps you can take to making money online without spending money.

I’ll explain things step by step and I’ll record videos showing you the process so you can see as well as read what you should do.

They’ll be occasional…meaning when I get time to write them :)

I’m aiming at one to two posts a week with maybe a video included…maybe not, depends on how busy I am making money!

I will be mentioning products and services as we go along BUT they are NOT necessary, just things I use that either help speed things up, make life easier or increase revenue from my efforts.

If you’ve any questions please either leave a comment or send me an email.

Make Money Online Step 1: How Do You Make Money Online?

When people learn I make money online they tend to fall into two distinct categories.

1. They think they have all the answers

or

2. They ask me lots and lots of questions

The ones who think they know all the answers normally either tried selling stuff on eBay or know someone who tried selling stuff on eBay. They’ve discovered it’s much harder than everyone makes out and decide if I am making money then I’m doing something dodgy! [I am constantly amazed at the number of people who believe anyone who makes money online must be up to no good!]

The group of people who ask the questions are obviously my favourite group and are the one’s who are likely to follow my recommendations and end up making money online.

Their most common question is “How Do You Make Money online?”

Well, the most simple way is to promote other people products and earn a percentage of any sales made. This is called Affiliate Marketing. You sign up as an affiliate of a company the sells products and they agree to pay you a cut of any sales made to people you forward to them through various methods…which I’ll discuss in detail in a later lesson. For now we’ll just focus on finding a product that people may want to buy.

There are two main tyoes of product to sell online.

1. Physical products like DVDs, Books,Clothes etc. Amazom and eBay would be the main companies involved in this.

2. Digital products like music downloads or eBooks.

In this basic step by step lesson we’ll focus on selling digital products.

One of the biggest and best sources of popular digital products is ClickBank.com

They haves tens of thousands of digital products,  on all manner of topics, available for you to promote. Go visit the ClickBank Marketplace to browse through some of the categories and get a feel for the place and the products they have.

Underneath each listing you see a box like this…

Quoting directly from the ClickBank site they explain as follows…

  • Avg $/sale: This is the average amount that an affiliate earns for each sale of this product. This number takes into account refunds, chargebacks and sales tax. Since vendors may offer products with different prices and commissions, the amount you earn on any given sale may not match this number exactly.
  • Future $: This number only applies to recurring billing products (i.e., products like memberships and subscriptions that regularly bill customers over time). This number shows the average amount an affiliate makes on all of the rebilled sales. Note that this number doesn’t include the original sale amount.
  • Total $/sale: For one-time purchases, this number is the same as $/sale. For recurring billing products, it equals the average total of the initial sale plus all rebills, divided by the number of initial sales. To put it simply, for every new purchase of this product, this amount is the average you’d make in total over the life of the new customer. However, this is just an average; this amount is not guaranteed.
  • Avg %/sale: This number shows the average commission rate earned for all sales of a vendor’s products. Since vendors can offer different commission rates for different types of products, this number may not exactly match the commission rate you earn on any given sale.
  • %refd: This is the percentage of sales that were referred by affiliates. This can give you an indication of how popular a product is with affiliates, and how competitive it might be to promote it.
  • Grav: Short for Gravity, this number represents a unique calculation by ClickBank that takes into account the number of different affiliates who earned a commission by promoting this product over the past 8 weeks. Since more recent transactions are given a higher value, this number can give you an idea of what products are “hot” at the moment, in terms of being promoted by many affiliates and making a good number of sales. However, high gravity can also indicate that there will be a lot of competition in promoting this product.
  • Cat: The Marketplace category and sub-category of the site.

But with so many products how do you find one that’s right for you? There’s a few things I look at when considering which products to promote.

1. What’s the commission? I normally choose anything above $15 for  the once off sales (Avg $/sale) and anything above $5 for recurring sales (Future $)

2. On average I look for a gravity (Grav) of between 20 and 100

To make finding suitable ClickBank products easier I use a great FREE tool called CBSnooper

Simply sign up and it will give you access to a whole host of information not freely available on the ClickBank site.

I’ve created a short video showing the basics of using Search on CB Snooper. Just click the link below.

So looking at the video I chose Dog Food Secrets and as a bonus I think I’ll go for Bacterial Vaginosis Freedom

We’ve got our products, what do we do next?
